When a package of glorious Fairy Frost fat quarters arrived on our doorstep here at Meaning of Life Designs, courtesy of the team at Michael Miller Fabrics, along with an invitation to make something for their Christmas Blog Hop, we knew exactly what we wanted to make!
The Christmas Ornament Collection features 15 ornaments, where the basic shapes are transformed with the details of the gorgeous machine embroidery. Use them as appliques on (literally!) anything, create a set of coasters or mug rugs, and then create a set of free-standing ornaments to hang on your tree!
Fairy Frost is one of our favorite fabrics to create with, and we've used a LOT over the years! Whether it's the pearlized fabrics with their subtle sheen or the glitter fabrics with that splendid sparkle, Fairy Frost is a joy to create with.
For Christmas, we love to use Fairy Frost Zirconium. With it's bright white background and silver glitter, it's the perfect fabric to create a snowy landscape. We paired it with some pearlized pastels to create an ornament table runner. Imagine this with a plate of cookies, a glass of mulled wine, and the glitter sparkling in the glow of a candle.
For a completely different, but still sparkly, look, we chose Fairy Frost Diamond to create a set of coasters and mug rugs. What do you think Santa will think when he finds a cup of hot chocolate and a cookie on a mug rug that's sparkling like, well... a diamond!
We couldn't resist making a set of stand-alone ornaments using one of our favorite Christmas colors - Fairy Frost Cherry. Featuring pearlized gold on a beautiful red, this makes for a very elegant Holiday season.
Did we mention that we LOVE Fairy Frost? If you love machine embroidery, check out some of our other projects featuring this gorgeous fabric (Click on the image for more details):
