Meet Your Guide: Dr. Sarah Vedeler

Since I was a young girl, I loved sewing. That love transformed into a hobby, a passion, and finally, a career.

Over 2 decades ago, I left corporate America to design my own quilts and share those designs (as well as classes on how to use them) with quilters all over the world.

In beautiful nerdy fashion, I mash up my PhD in Theoretical Computer Science and career as a Software Engineer with a love of color and design.

The result? Machine embroidery appliqué and quilting in the hoop designs which allow YOU to create spectacular quilts and other projects you never thought were possible... until now.

My superpower and purpose: To ignite the fire of creativity in the hearts and minds of people who are hungry to experience the transformative process of creating something beautiful themselves.

I specialize in BERNINA machines and BERNINA and Hatch embroidery software, and our community is generous with troubleshooting help for other brands too!

Frequently Asked Questions

What if I can't attend live?
No problem! All sessions are recorded and available in our product library for as long as you're a member. You can also submit questions by email ahead of time (we'll remind you in the email sent 5 days before each call).

Do I need to be on camera?
Nope! You're welcome to keep your camera off and just listen and stitch. If you have a question, we'd love to see your face, but it's not required.

What do I need to bring?
Just yourself and any questions you have! If you want to stitch during the call, set up in your sewing space with your embroidery machine and current project.

Can I ask questions about any embroidery project?
This call is specifically for support on Meaning of Life Designs projects. If you're working on a design from another creator, you'll need to reach out to them for help. But you're absolutely welcome to stitch along on any project while you're with us!

How many people typically attend?
In the past, our Zoom sessions have had anywhere from 20-60+ people, and there's always been enough time to answer all questions. Many people come just for the company and inspiration!

What if I'm brand new to machine embroidery?
Perfect! This is an ideal environment for beginners working on their first Meaning of Life Designs project.

What's the difference between membership and drop-in?

Membership ($22/month): Best if you want ongoing support. Includes replay access to all sessions (current + past). Cancel anytime and rejoin anytime.
Drop-in ($26): Best if you need help with one specific project. Attend one live session, no replay access.

What if I want to try it first?
Smart thinking! Sign up for one month of membership ($22), attend the live call, watch the replay, and if it's not for you, simply cancel before your next billing cycle. Much better value than the drop-in!

When does my membership renew?
Your membership renews monthly from your sign-up date. For example, if you join on January 15, you'll be billed again on February 15.

What happens to my replays if I cancel?
You'll have access to all replays through the end of your current billing cycle. So if you cancel on January 5, you'll still have access through your February 5 renewal date.

Is there a community beyond the monthly calls?
Yes! All Meaning of Life Designs customers have access to our active Facebook group where you can connect, share projects, and get support anytime.

What if I join mid-month?
You get instant access to previous month's replays and can attend the next live session. For example, join on January 20 and you can watch the January 16 replay immediately, then join us live on February 21!
